Acrylic Spacer Wall Light Up-Down Sconce Light

The micro-perforated acrylic panels project hundreds of individual points of light through their apertures onto the surrounding wall, building up into a radial starburst pattern that extends upward, downward, and to both sides of the fixture. The effect is a rich, dotted wash of light that covers a large area of the wall around the sconce, the plain wall surface appears to come alive with texture and pattern. The projection fades gradually outward from the fixture, creating depth and gradation rather than a hard edge.

Cool White (6000–6500K) produces the sharpest, most defined projection pattern, the crisp white light makes each individual light dot distinct and the starburst reads with maximum clarity. Warm White (2700–3000K) creates a softer, more diffused projection with a golden tone, atmospheric and intimate. Natural White (4000K) is a balanced middle ground. For maximum visual impact from the projection, Cool White is recommended; for bedroom or dining room ambience, Warm White is preferred.

The spread of the projection depends on the brightness of the LED and the distance from surrounding surfaces. On a standard wall at close range (the fixture mounted flat against it), the starburst pattern typically extends 60–90cm upward and downward from the fixture centre, and 40–60cm to either side. In a room with dark paint, the contrast between lit and unlit wall is higher and the pattern reads more dramatically. On a lighter wall, the pattern blends more softly into the surface.

The dotted light pattern from the perforations plays across a textured surface differently than on a flat wall, the relief of flutes, grooves, or texture creates shadows within the projection that add further depth and dimensionality to the pattern. Multiple Spacer Wall Lights installed at regular intervals along a wall create overlapping starburst patterns that merge into a continuous, rhythmic light field, particularly effective on staircase walls and long hallway corridors. Yes, noticeably. On a white or light-coloured wall, the projection is broad and soft, the dots blend into a gentle glow around the fixture. On a dark or deeply saturated wall, the contrast between the bright projected dots and the dark surface is much higher, making each individual light point distinct and the starburst pattern dramatically defined. The fixture performs most spectacularly on dark, moody walls.

The Spacer Wall Light is an accent and ambient light, it is not designed as a primary task light. The up-down projection provides atmospheric wall washing rather than direct functional illumination. It works best alongside recessed downlights or a central ceiling light that provides the room's primary illumination. As a secondary or accent light, its impact on the atmosphere of a room is exceptional.

Installation is straightforward, the circular backplate mounts to a standard wall electrical box with rawl plugs and screws. No special preparation beyond a live wiring point in the wall is required. It is suitable for RCC, brick, and drywall (with appropriate fixings for the substrate). Your electrician will complete the hardwired connection behind the backplate.
